Last week we stopped coding, stopped selling, stopped triaging, stopped configuring, stopped doing everything except for building

• Community
• Connections
• Friendships
• Memories
  

And gingerbread houses.

Being a remote company has its perks (middle of the day dog walks! getting the laundry done! no commuting) as well as some serious downsides (no quick conversations, no ad-hoc lunches, no hearing an idea from across the room and jumping on it).  So when the holidays roll around and we can’t all get dressed up and go out together we had to get creative.

And we did.

Not all of our houses stayed standing (I admit, mine collapsed quickly) but they were built with love and laughter.

With kids judges joining us from Colorado (thanks Melissa), Iowa (thanks Nic), Maryland (thanks Ben), Pennsylvania (thanks Mike) and Virginia (thanks Pietro) the competition was both fierce and fun.

• Jason was a clear kid favorite with his campsite
• Ben’s multistory house wowed us all
• Mike brought our schools into the mix
• Nico brought his side hustle as a DJ into the mix
• Spencer won kids votes with a flying Snoopy
• Keira won them with reindeer

It was a good day and a good reminder that even if we live and work far apart, we are still a close team.
